Chill Genesis

Christmas, 1995. Or thereabouts. Five couples go out for a holiday dinner. The men have been together for years, as far back as high school for 3, and two college additions. The spouses/girlfriends got the guys in a package deal. After drinks, a great meal (Inn at Chester?), wine and more drinks, discussion wandered over to getting away as a group, maybe to Bermuda. The ladies suggested this, probably Claire, on the premise that the guys couldn't even plan a group 40th birthday memorial, which was already 3 years overdue. (We're still working on it...)

The idea was intriguing (especially after all the wine), but Bermuda seemed aggressive for a first try. So, the task was assigned to consider an alternate, more accessible site. Nobody really believed the idea would go much further than that dinner table. After all, remember the 40th birthday party?

Then an email arrived from Baz to Z suggesting a look-see at a house on Cape Cod.

The Big Chill

OK, I'm diving in. I've created this blog with the intent that some people who know me will use it as a community exchange board, and moreso, to see where theis just goes. I've always intended to write a journal, but never have had the time, or more truthfully, the discipline to do it.

The name of this post is, of course, taken from a movie, which in turn has become the theme that unites my closest group of friends...minus the funeral and surrogate baby-making. More of this will drip through in later posts, no doubt. And I'm going to add them as team members, if I figure out how, and this can truly become "The Chill" blog.

I must admit that I'm not egotistical enough to believe others will pay attention to whatever I put here, but I'm curious enough to give it a try. I've always been interested in new technology, and although blogs are no longer new, creating (or intelligently designing, whichever side of Scopes you land on) one is attractive enough to try. So, I send this out to the ether and will see what comes back. FUSU.
